The Taiwan Alliance of Clinical Trial Centers (TACTC) held its first General Assembly on April 26, successfully electing its inaugural leadership team and formally entering a new phase of governance and operations. The meeting marked an important milestone for the alliance and for Taiwan’s broader efforts to strengthen cross-institutional collaboration in clinical trials.

The Assembly was attended by Shih Chung-liang (石崇良), Minister of Health and Welfare; Chiang Chih-kang (姜至剛), Director-General of the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration; and Liu Ming-hsun (劉明勳), Counselor at the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Their presence reflected strong public-sector support for the integration of clinical trial capacity and the continued development of the alliance.

During the Assembly, Taipei Medical University was elected as the alliance’s inaugural Chair, Mackay Memorial Hospital as Chief Supervisor, and Taichung Veterans General Hospital as Chair-Elect. The election of the inaugural leadership team establishes a formal governance structure for TACTC and provides a strong foundation for the alliance’s future work.

TACTC currently brings together 33 member institutions across Taiwan, representing major healthcare systems and clinical trial capabilities nationwide. Through this alliance platform, member institutions aim to strengthen coordination, share expertise, and build a more integrated and efficient clinical trial ecosystem.

Looking ahead, TACTC will focus on several priority initiatives, including the development of a clinical trial feasibility assessment platform, the optimization of ethics review documentation, the streamlining of contract negotiation processes, the cultivation of clinical trial professionals, and the establishment of a more systematic participant recruitment support mechanism. Through these efforts, the alliance seeks to improve trial start-up efficiency, execution quality, and overall performance in Taiwan’s clinical trial environment.

TACTC stated that the completion of its inaugural governance structure marks a transition from institution-based efforts toward a more coordinated model of cross-institutional collaboration. With the support of government authorities and the joint commitment of its member institutions, the alliance will continue to advance system development, process optimization, and collaborative capacity-building for clinical trials in Taiwan.
